Camden swimmers were out at Barnet last Sunday for the first meet of the season. A squad of 9 swimmers raced to win an impressive 17 medals! A particular mention to Karen Bellas (60-64 age group), who won a medal in each of her races and touched first in the 50 fly, 100 fly, 100 breast, second in the 100 IM, and third in the 100 free and 50 breast. Fabiola Amara (50-54 age group) achieved gold on the 100 IM and 100 breast, as well as silver on the 50 fly and 100 free. For their first competition as Masters swimmers, Jane Moran (50-54 age group) won two bronze medals on her two races (50 fly and 100 free) while Zorika Adams (45-49 age group) won silver on the 50 back and 25 free, and bronze on the 100 back. This strong female squad confirmed their good shape by winning gold on the 200 medley relay (Amara, Bellas, Moran, Charpentier). Camden men also did well, with a first place finish for Martin Woodhams (50-54 age group) on the 100 back, as well as top 8 finishes in all their races for Russell Bentley (40-44 age group), John Brendsel (50-54 age group) and Nicola Carniato (35-39 age group). Congratulations to all the swimmers and good luck for even more success for the rest of the season. Short course nationals coming up in October!
