14 April 2016
Early on the first of April swimmers from Amersham swimming club performance squad met at Gatwick for the clubs annual warm weather training camp. This was ASC’s 5th trip to the Coral Bay Resort and the second visit with Head Coach Lawrie Thomson.
The squad of 10 athletes accompanied by team manager Kelly Holdsworth and Lawrie, covered 70,000m over the course of 12 challenging training sessions in addition to land training sessions and one grueling session of volleyball.
The camp was a great success, helped by the weather and the highest quality facilities (10 lane outdoor 50m pool, 5 star hotel and fabulous food)
All the swimmers thoroughly enjoyed the experience and feel it was a massive benefit in their preparation for the upcoming competitions including the South East Regional Championships in May.
Head coach Lawrie said, “The camp was excellent and did not disappoint. This was my 7th visit to coral bay and as expected we were very well looked after by the hotel and the staff at Arena Sports. The camp was very beneficial and I am looking forward to seeing the results of everyone’s hard work when they race over the remainder of the season. We would definitely like to return to coral bay and I would really recommend it”
The club is very grateful for the contribution provided by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) towards the cost of the camp and would like to thank the CTO for this generous support. In addition well done to the swimmers for all the fundraising and in particular Georgina and Sophie for leading this.
