April Newsletter – Eat my Bubbles!
Message from Head Coach
The beginning of the month several dedicated FSC swimmers competed over the Easter Holidays at a couple of local very competitive meets held at the Guildford Spectrum and Aldershot Garrison pools.Swimmers ware aiming at achieving Regional Qualifying times and, or improving their individual Regional rankings. Some very impressive performances were recorded by those FSC swimmers participating in either of these two meets. Well done to all of you!
The largest contingent of FSC swimmers to date, 52 in all, participated in the Haslemere Open Meet Sunday, 23rd . It was a truly a fantastic team event with many of those swimmers competing winning medals!! FSC were represented from swimmers competing in their first ever competitive gala as well as the more experienced swimmers. Lots of Personal Best Times were recorded and all swimmers attending experienced the positive results one can achieve from all of the hard work our swimmers have put in. I believe that this is just the beginning of the exciting future ahead for FSC, with an increasing number of children participating in local meets and experiencing the excitement of representing your team making yourself, your coaches and your parents proud of your efforts. A BIG well done to you all!!!
The last weekend of the month the Senior Regional Championships were held at the new High Wycombe Pool, FSC was represented by Jennifer Holland who turned in a very respectable performance finishing 5th in the Women’s Open 100 Breaststroke. Well done Jennifer!!!
The 14&U Regional Championships being held at the K2 Centre in Crawley on the 13th, 14th, & 27th, 28th. FSC will be represented by our largest number of qualifiers at this meet ever, good luck to all of you participating. Swim Fast, Race Hard!
Message From Chairman
April was quite an intense month with many swimming meets and regional qualifiers right in the heart of it. One of the meets that stand out though was Haslemere. A record FSC swimming team entry with some fantastic swims from our younger swimmers! It's great to see their hard work paying off and I was also highly impressed with the way they were supporting and cheering for each other! Great work from the coaching team as most of the swimmers entering this meet had limited competition experience and the results were fantastic.
As we move on into May, I would like to wish all our swimmers who made it to the Regional championship good luck and very well done! Another record entry this year in one of the fastest regions in the country, fantastic result for the Club.
Enjoy the warm spring and as always, do not hesitate to contact me or the committee.
Message from Treasurer
It is the member’s responsibility to make sure their standing orders are correct. Please also check your invoices on ‘swimclubmanager’ and that any outstanding fees from Gala fees are settled as soon as possible.
1) Team Manager Training
Team Managers are needed at open meets and galas to monitor the swimmers and ensure they get to their races on time. It's also a great way of watching your child race without paying for the privilege! These team managers need to have undertaken a training session, DBS check and will need to attend a safeguarding workshop. We are looking to arrange a training session soon, if you are interested please e-mail Sharon Porter on [email protected]

Sunday Desk Helpers
Can you spare a couple of hours every few weeks to help on our Sunday Desk? If so, please contact Carrie. Ideally you would be asked to be available from 4.45pm-6.30pm or perhaps even for the first hour or last hour, full training given!
Welfare Issues - Welfare
If for any reason swimmers need to leave a training session earlier than the scheduled finish time can the responsible adult please approach the coach to advise them of this rather than just leaving without letting anyone know. The coaches have a duty of care to our swimmers and therefore understandably need to know where each swimmer is during training (if not in the pool).
Top moan - It
has been brought to our attention by the Sports Centre staff that a
number of swimmers/centre users not being able to find a changing
cubicle. We cannot reserve changing cubicles!
Please do not leave your bags and items in a change cubicle whilst training, each pool has lockers available and should you be using a locker please make sure you lock your clothes and valuables away as it has been noticed that belongings are being putin lockers without being locked, you do this at your own risk. We cannot reserve changing cubicles.
Swim Trial Enquiries - contact Carrie
Membership Enquiries - contact Rachel.
Fundraising - Please use the Easyfundraising link from our website when you shop on-line – there are lots of different companies that will donate money to the Club when you shop. Also by using the ProSwimwear link on the website you can earn back money for the Club. ?
