October Newsletter - Just ..Keep.. Swimming!
Message from Head Coach

WOW what an exciting month of swimming!

The month kicked off with the first round of the Arena League and the team gelled together like
never before. It was a very proud moment for me to see all swimmers giving 110% effort in the pool
and 110% effort supporting each other showing great camaraderie. On the night the team finished in
2nd  place just 8 points from finishing 1st  , since then it was discovered that the winning team had an
ineligible swimmer competing so the points were adjusted and FSC ended up being the victor by 3
points!!!! A GREAT first round victory for FSC and well deserved.

The following weekend FSC swimmers were competing at the Rushmoor Royals Open meet and
posted 80% of our team swims resulted in personal best times! An amazing weekend of swimming a
BIG well done to all of you who competed.

Two sessions of the Club Championships were held with some very respectable long distance results
in the 1500m for the boys and 800m for the girls. This was followed up with some very competitive
heats in the 400m where many personal best times were recorded as well as County qualifying
times.

Finally the month concluded with the Hart Open meet on the 29th  and 36 FSC swimmers won 127
medals!!! The 36 swimmers included some seasoned competitors and some swimmers competing in
their very first competition. All swimmers posted personal best times making the late evening finish
time well worth the experience.

It truly was a fantastic month of competition, so let’s keep up the GREAT work and keep the focus on
being the best you can be!

Events to look forward to in November; 5th and 6th  South East Region Senior Champs
Round 2 of the Arena League 12th November
FSC Mini Meet 13th November
FSC Club Champs 1st  , 6th , 8th , 20th November
Atlantis Open Meet 26th and 27th November

Message From Chairman

October has found our Committee busy, busy, busy! The season has kicked off amazingly well with all the swimmers transitioning smoothly into their new schedules, two very well run internal meets, a great Club BBQ, and so many achievements already, from sports awards to fantastic PBs and medals in external leagues and meets! What more to say than again a BIG thank you to all of you who are working so hard to support our swimmers’ equally hard work and successes.
On a separate note, please join me to officially welcome two new members in the FSC administration team: Nick Rusz, our new Club Treasurer and Natalie Cheesman, our new Welfare Officer! Both Nick and Nat are parents of swimmers so you can find them poolside most days of the week. Do take a minute to congratulate them in their new roles! Equally and as always, do not hesitate to reach out to them or any member of our Committee if you have any enquiry or question.
Finally, you will have received an email about an audit we are currently performing in the Club accounts. Please make sure you read it and ensure you have actioned appropriately.

Looking forward to November which looks even busier yet more exciting: Club Champs, Club Mini Meet, Winter Regionals, Arena League Round II, Atlantis Meet, wow! And…watch this space as we are also planning a series of exciting Club activities in the months to come!

Regards,

Dimitri Tsopanakos

Welfare Issues

Now that we've started our new schedule of swimming I would like to remind Swimmers and Parents about some of the basic do's and don'ts. We need to be respectful to our fellow swimmers and observe any rules set down by the Club and the host Pools that we use.

Sadly these are the top six moans that we receive from your fellow Club members so if we can all take note we can easily resolve them I'm sure.

1.Please do not leave your bags and items in a change cubicle whilst training, each pool has lockers available. We cannot reserve changing cubicles.
2.Swimmers are requested to use the shower areas promptly and appropriately.
3.Parents are reminded not to use the Blue seats poolside at Farnham, our Policy is we request you not to go poolside during training. You may occasionally see parents there whilst a swim trial is happening or whilst members of the public are supporting swimmers in private lessons, or for the collection of Minnows.
4.Please arrive poolside ready for training, with your kit swim hat and goggles. If you must leave the pool to use the toilet please get acknowledgement from your Coach first and return promptly.
5.Be observant of the lane you are in and whether you are swimming on the right or left side of the lane. In general Odd number lanes you swim on the right, Even number lanes on the left, check this and be aware of fellow lane swimmers.
6.Make room for incoming swimmers to tumble or finish their length. Finally take care when overtaking or catching up to a swimmer, a tap on toes lets them know you are there.

Most of all, enjoy your swimming!
