August Newsletter - Ready, Steady, Go!!!

Message from Head Coach

Welcome back!

To all returning swimmers and a very warm welcome to all new FSC members! The August Clinics were again received and attended very well. Stroke skills were covered in all four competitive strokes including starts and turns. Now it’s up to you to continue to improve your skills and fitness to be the best you can be!

Prior to resuming our regular training schedule we kicked off the season with an FSC ‘No Frills Meet’. This meet provided swimmers who participated an excellent opportunity to establish a ‘starting point’ of the season. Many of you posted best times while others clearly have some work to do, following a long summer break. All in all it proved to be a very positive evening of racing, well done to all!

Upcoming September events to look forward to are the FSC Team BBQ on the 17th of September, the ‘Club Handicap Sprints’ on the 18th of September and the Littlehampton Open Meet on the 25th of September.

The season has really started off fantastically! Keep up the GREAT work!

See you all at the pool!

Coach Martin

Message from Chairman

Another exciting swimming year starts officially this month. We have circulated a document, which contains useful confirmed and provisional dates for swim meets, and other competitions throughout the year. Please take the time to go through it and add placeholders in your diaries. The document can be found on our website  under 'Events' and in our Facebook Group 'Farnham Swimming Club'.

We hope all the best to our swimmers' new season and don't forget: Train Hard, Swim Fast!

Thank You Volunteers

A massive thank you from the Committee to all our fantastic volunteers who help us run the club.

Social Committee

Save the date - Summer BBQ will take place on Saturday 17th September

Trip to the Olympic pool - the social committee have discussed the prospect of taking a group to swim in the Olympic pool, Stratford as a winter treat. We would travel by coach and have dinner, returning around 10pm. This would be suitable for confident swimmers. At this point we want to get an idea of numbers so please email: [email protected] if are interested

We have established a social committee to co-ordinate and manage social events. If you are interested in getting involved please contact Nicola Douglas

Sunday Desk Helpers

We recently have recruited some new helpers for the next season but if you can you spare a couple of hours every few weeks to help on our Sunday Desk? If so, please contact Carrie. Ideally you would be asked to be available from 4.45pm-7pm or perhaps even for the first hour or last hour, full training given!

Squad Reps Needed

We are looking for a Squad Rep, for Tadpoles Black, it’s a sizeable squad so there must be someone who can help, so your squad can get information more quickly regarding any updates.

Our Reps forward Club emails to their squad members but to also take enquiries from their members and forward to the relevant person in the Club.  It is a useful link through the Club and allows information to be distributed and received quickly. If you are a parent of a swimmer in one of these squads and can help please contact Sharon.
