Eat, Sleep, Swim, Repeat

Message from Head Coach

The month of June may have seen a decline in the competition schedule with only one Open Meet scheduled at Cranleigh and the FSC Mini Meet, but it certainly did not reflect on the number of Farnham participants!

We had our most ever swimmers in attendance at the Cranleigh Meet and FSC swimmers did not disappoint!  We had many fantastic results not only turned in by our seasoned competitors but also from our newest swimmers at their very first Open Meet ever!

It truly is remarkable to see how many swimmers we now have testing their skills in the local competitions.  It is not only a tribute to all of the swimmers but also to the parents in showing their support and being a part of the experience too.

I will continue to look forward to FSC’s number of participants growing with each season and the competitiveness of the club becoming stronger and stronger.

The Mini meet was also a big success with swimmers from Tadpoles Lane 6, Tadpoles Red and Black, Frogs Black and Newt squads competing.  This was an introduction to racing and the performance of the swimmers was truly a sign of the times ahead for FSC.

The future of the club is in the hands of these swimmers and the future certainly looks very bright indeed.  Keep coming to practice and continuing to work at perfecting your technique and improving your conditioning.

Congratulations to all FSC swimmers who took part in these events.

Message From Chairman

Thank you to all who attended our Annual General Meeting on the 18th of June at the Farnham Leisure Centre. It was another successful and highly interactive meeting so thank you all for your input and suggestions. We always urge parents to attend our AGM as it is a great opportunity to hear more about how we operate as a club and of course, voice your opinion and suggestions with your vote. Also, in the next few days, you will receive the swim and the meets schedule along with a couple of exciting announcements, watch this space!

Important News & Reports

1, Mini-Meet

What a fantastic Mini Meet!

Great swims from our young swimmers with lots of smiles and lots of improvement! Some strokes are really challenging to do at such young age, especially under competition conditions, well done all!  Well done also to our coach Summer Pepper for all the hard work, it was really impressive to see them swim with such determination!

Many thanks to our older swimmers who helped in various roles: Sean, Izzy, Emily, Abi, KitJacob, Anthi, Tamara, Alessandro and Jordan!

Last but not least, many thanks to our dedicated officials (and our great announcer Chris Lee) who always make time to help even if their children are not swimming and of course our fantastic RED helpers, so many again, fantastic support!  As you know, we cannot run such competitions without your help and especially all you parents who filled the balcony spectator area again (we all know how hot it can get up there), so thank you!

We hope you all enjoyed it. Next the FSC Sprints!

3. 2017/2018 Season

The 2017/18 swim season program has been approved by the FSC committee and will be distributed to all FSC members in the very near future. This information will include squad session schedules, swimmer squad assignments and the competitive calendar for all squads.

The squad structure and progression has been designed by FSC Head Coach Martin Edwards and supported by the FSC Committee Members. Our vision provides a parallel opportunity for all FSC swimmers to excel whether competitive or competitive development members to easily integrate and crossover within the two pathways of the club.

The 2017/18 FSC swim program reflects a continuation in the development of the competitive squads while also maintaining and expanding the Teaching Academy, Competitive Development and the Masters squad. Every effort has been made in putting together a swim schedule for next season to provide all FSC swimmers an opportunity to LEARN TO SWIM - LOVE TO SWIM - RACE TO WIN in a safe and fun environment.

2017 Surrey County Masters & Seniors Championships

16 swimmers, 58 individual swims, 31 individual medals, 11 relays, 4 relay medals and a variety of personal bests. Farnham Swimming Club had a very successful, tiring and fun afternoon at the 2017 Surrey County Masters & Seniors Championships.

FSC swimmers, with ages ranging from 19 to 55, joined swimmers from at least 15 other Surrey clubs in the biggest ever Surrey Masters Championships on Saturday 24th June at the magnificent Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

With 32 events spread across three sessions there were plenty of opportunities to win medals and set PBs. Of the 31 individual medals won, 16 were gold, 4 were silver and the rest bronze. The relays, boisterous and noisy, resulted in 1 gold medal,  2 silver and 1 bronze.  All but one medal win posted a time between 51.5 and 60 seconds.  Every FSC swimmer had a place in at least one relay team.

Well done FSC.
