20 CAMDEN SWISS COTTAGE SWIMMERS HEAD TO NATIONAL CHAMPS

20 CAMDEN SWISS COTTAGE SWIMMERS

HEAD TO NATIONAL CHAMPS

Twenty of our very best swimmers are about to head to Sheffield for the pinnacle of the swimming season – the national championships.  Our swimmers are set to compete in a variety of events including the British Championships, the Swim England National Summer Meet and the Swim England Open Water Festival.

Says Head Coach Matt Heathcock: “This is by far the largest number of swimmers we have sent to the nationals in recent years and I am really pleased and proud of the swimmers who have made it, as it’s been achieved with a great deal of hard work in and out of the pool. Even more pleasing is that we have a few more swimmers who came very close to qualifying, so I am looking forward to building on that for next year.”

Leading the qualifiers for the British Championships is Alex Borisov (16) who will race in three events – the 200m breaststroke, 200m and 400m Individual Medley.  Ally Larson (17) will start both the 200m and 400m Individual Medley while Amir Castronovo (14) will compete in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.  Backstroker Jackson Olin (15) races the 100m and 200m events, sprinter Benjamin Moore (16) has qualified for the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle while Bryce Puszet (18) will feature in the 200m backstroke, his strongest event.

Out of the pool, Brandon Biss (12) and Gabriele Giovannoni (13) have both qualified to compete in the Swim England Open Water Festival, whilst para swimmers Charlie Hyde (15) and Leah O’Connell (15) will race in the Swim England Summer National Meet.

The full list of qualifiers is Katie Ambridge, Brandon Biss, Alex Borisov, Lauren Brantley, Amir Castronovo, Charlie Fraser-Allen, Gabriele Giovannoni, Charlie Hyde, Natalia Kaczmarczyk, Lyelle Kahaner, Alex Lezzard, Ally Larson, Benjamin Moore, Julia Murphy, Leah O’Connell, Jackson Olin, Bryce Puszet, Tudor Puszet, Ann-Sophie Schmitt and Pavle Stamenkovic.

The British Championships 2017 will take place between 25th and 30th July and the Swim England National Summer Meet will take place between 2nd and 6th August at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The Swim England National Open Water Festival will take place between 30th and 31st July at the Rother Valley Country Park near Rotherham.

We wish them all the very best of luck. Look out for a full report of how they do in September.
