Message from Coach Martin

A few notes to close out last year’s successful swim season:

Following a tremendous South East Region Open Water Championships FSC was represented by 3 swimmers at the National Open Water Championships held in Rotherham on the last weekend of July.

CONGRATULATIONS go to Ella Rose Walton who finished in 8th position in the 13 year old girls division, a significant improvement from her previous year’s efforts!  Elliott Morpuss made his National Championships debut finishing a very respectable 13th place in the 15 year old boys division.  Also qualifying but unable to attend was Alice Davis, Alice swam to 3rd place in the 14 year old girls division at the Regional Championships.  Both Elliott and Alice have made major improvements this past season and their efforts have been rewarded by representing FSC at a National Championship event!

Well done to Ella Rose, Elliott and Alice!!!

I am really looking forward to the upcoming season knowing that it’s going to be another thrilling season for FSC.  All squads are beginning to develop and the competitiveness of the team continues to rise to the challenges we face together.  Remember ‘you are only as strong as your weakest link’ so let’s all pull together and continue to work hard and ‘be the best we can be’!  Coach Martin

Message from Chairman

I hope you all had a relaxing holiday and you are all relaxed, refreshed and recharged for another great swimming season! This year is a very special year for the Club as it marks its 125 years since it was founded! We are all extremely proud to be part of such an iconic moment and we are planning a series of festivities, celebrations and special events throughout the year, kicking off with our BBQ in Alice Holt! I am looking forward to seeing you all soon and I hope you have a healthy, successful swimming season!  Dimitri

Congratulations to Richard Allen - U23 World Duathlon Champion, now European and World Champion 2017.

They all did swimmingly well!

Congratulations to all our swimmers who received their GCSE results, some outstanding grades.

Message from Treasurer

It is the member’s responsibility to make sure their standing orders are correct. Please also check your invoices and that any outstanding fees are paid.  If you have recently changed squads, please make sure you are paying the correct amount.  A plea for anyone that forgot to update standing order for fees on 1st Sept to update for 1st Oct and remit difference to a/c without needing chasing this season. Nick Rusz

T30 BBQ went well on 13th August and many thanks to Paul and Christine for hosting the event. Chris was on hand to present (of sorts) medals to the participants of T30.  Was a lot of fun and laughs.
Nationals in Sheffield later in the year.  It is a lot of fun and a real social event.  Check this link for more details

An issue has arisen recently regarding the point at which parents assume responsibility for their children once they have exited the pool following training. To clarify the issue, the duty of care passes from coaches to parents once their child has exited the pool. We appreciate that parents however are not allowed poolside during training. It is assumed that children can walk sensibly and safely from poolside to the shower area without the assistance of an adult. Coaches can enforce, where necessary the importance of walking sensibly and not running. Where appropriate parents can wait for their child in the changing rooms and assist in showering them if needs be. If you do have any questions or queries regarding this then please feel free to contact Welfare  - Welfare

ASA Club Mark Accreditation

Farnham has been part of the first group of clubs to have achieved the new ASA Club Mark accreditation. This achievement shows that the club has in place all the correct processes and procedures, that the coaching staff are qualified and have in place the necessary insurances, related background checks and are following a path of continual personal development to ensure that each swimmer is fairly treated and coached to their full potential. The committee has, in a short space of time, reacted to the new format and so keep the club in the elite space of swimming. Graham Chalkley
