A Racing Start into the New Season
Message from Head Coach
The new swim season is beginning to get underway with several competitions and galas on the calendar.
Our first meet of the new season the ‘County Qualifier’ took place Sunday, 24th September at the Arun Leisure Centre in Bognor Regis hosted by Littlehampton Swim Club. FSC were represented by over 30 swimmers competing in 3 sessions and many ‘first timers’ (swimmers competing in their very first open meet). FSC swimmers tallied many medals over the day’s events and many personal best times were recorded. It was a very promising start to the season and I will look toward all of our swimmers building on their early season success.
Upcoming events to look forward to in October include Club Champs events, the BBS Sprint Gala, Arena League Round 1 and the Hart Open.
Message From Chairman
Quite a busy month already! We are all, already, running “full steam ahead” and I wanted to keep you up to date with a few things which we started in September: as discussed in the parent evening briefings, we have kicked off our initiative of focusing more on the swimmer, than the squad this year. This means that, in the younger squads, coaches have been focusing more on individual drills like, for example, starts and turns while in the older, competitive squads, individual plans with targets are being discussed and agreed with the swimmer and their parent/guardian. The Club Champs have also commenced and we are all looking forward to some great races!
Message from Treasurer
Many members have not updated their swimming fees after the changes made in September – will any who are on the wrong fee please make sure the amount is corrected for October payment and any underpaid fees settled as soon as possible. Emails will be sent during October to those paying the wrong amount.
(Please make sure your payment reflects any change in squad as well as any change to the fee due.)
Important News & Reports
1. Summer BBQ Report
Fantastic turnout at the FSC BBQ at Alice Holt with what must have been about 120 people! We were so lucky with the weather considering it was supposed to rain from lunch time. We managed to tempt the sunshine to stay throughout, it was a beautiful warm sunny day with lots of laughs and giggles all round! At this event, the adults beat the youngsters at the press up challenge (evidence was posted to the Facebook group).
2. Awards Night
We are currently working on the date for the Awards night which will be in January AND a new location for it to be held. More details to follow….
T30 - anyone over 18 can swim for FSC! We are hoping to have our biggest team ever in our 125th year. All you need to do is swim for 30 minutes and see how many lengths you can do.
Please ask your friends, relatives, grandparents - anyone over the age of 18 to join in. There will be a sign up sheet available shortly on the website - an email link will be sent when it is ready.
4. Pool Disruption
Thank you for your patience over the recent pool closure at
Farnham Sports Centre. This was out of our control but on
both occasions the Sports Centre worked swiftly to resolve the
situation. It was great to see so many swimmers at the
alternative session provided and with smiles on their faces!
Many thanks to our Parents!
