Fine medal haul for Modernian

Modernian Swimming Club’s U10 girls won an array of gold medals at the Mid Beds Open Meet.

The youngsters dominated in the 50m and 200m breastroke, with Kaelah Lawson winning gold, Eloise Bailey silver and Orla Keaveney bronze.

Lawson completed a marvellous event as she also took gold in the 200m individual medley (IM), 50m and 100m backstroke and silver in the 100m freestyle.

The medals kept coming too as Bethany Dolan claimed silver in the 200m IM and Hannah Hawkins took the bronze.

Max Wilson also produced an impressive performance, bagging gold in the 400m and 50m freestyle, silver in the 100m breaststroke, 200m freestyle and 50m butterfly and bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Aiyana Lawson won gold in a thrilling 400m IM, clocking 5.18.44mins.

She followed that up by winning the 50m and 200m breaststroke and also bagging silver in the 100m backstroke.

Oliver Peacock secured gold in the 100m breaststroke after racing back from Crawley to compete.

Meanwhile, Aaron Hird took bronze in 100m butterfly and silver in 50m butterfly before Matthew Peck picked up gold in both the 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

Some of the club’s youngest swimmers took part in the Huntingdon Piranhas Novice gala - some representing the Club for the first time.

Modernian finished fourth overall, mainly because many of the swimmers swam too fast for a novice gala resulting in less points being awarded to the club.
