Why did you get into coaching?

"Initially I got asked by a friend to help out with her swimming club and discovered a passion for something even more than my own swimming (which I never thought possible)."

Background/List of achievements past and present:

In her coaching years so far Kim has coached swimmers to over nearly 60 national medals since the year 2007, Kim has also worked with and been instrumental in the development of 10 Junior and Senior International swimmers and British/English Record holders - whose events range from 50m Free to 10k Open Water, 50m Breast to 400m I.M & everything inbetween!

Kim was selected in 2013 to represent GB as Team GB Coach for the Female team at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands.  These championships saw Kim’s own swimmer Abbie Wood won 2 Gold and 2 Silver medals, with every female in the team winning one or more medals.

Kim has a proven track record of developing swimmers in their teenage years that have gone on and continued to be successful at the International stage and played an integral role in their development including 4 members of the 2018 England Commonwealth Games team – Abbie Wood (Commonwealth Games Finalist) Sarah Vasey (Commonwealth Games Champion), Molly Renshaw (2016 Olympic Finalist) and Lewis White (2016 Paralympic Medalist) Joining the aforementioned swimmers was European Silver medalist Imogen Clark at the 2018 European Championships.

Kim has coached at clubs of all different levels and sizes, and has worked from teaching to head coach and feel’s this gives her a greater understanding and appreciation for every aspect of a club and a swimmer’s journey.  Her main roles being at Stafford Apex, 6 years with the Derbyshire performance squad - Derventio eXcel and most recently Winchester City Penguins 2014-2018.  Kim’s time at Winchester saw the best results in the club’s history including achieving the most qualifiers and medals ever for the club at County, Regional and National level, The period under Kim's leadership and coaching also saw the club enjoy their first ever British National Champion in Pietro Forconi along with some 30 national medals in 4 years.

Prior to moving to Winchester Kim took herself on a self-funded sabbatical to the USA where she spent time with some of the best American High School (Bolles School), Club (Dynamo, Atlanta) and College teams (Florida Gators), the homes of Caeleb Dressel, Joe Schooling, Ryan Lochte, Elizabeth Bessel, Gunnar Bentz & Kylie Stewart.  In 2014 Kim was selected by USA 2012 Olympic Coach Todd Schmitz (childhood coach to Missy Franklin) to be a Mentor Coach at the FINA World Youth Programme in Doha, Qatar – which saw over 280 swimmers and 130 coaches from 136 countries.
