Message from Sean, Head Coach

It’s been an incredible month. Winning the last round of the Arena League puts FSC in the top gala fighting for promotion tonight. At both the High Wycombe and the Hart Open meets, the swimmers’ personal bests (PBs) were through the roof. The FSC Awards night was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our swimmers’ successes over the season. And it was great to see so many younger swimmers involved and racing their hearts out for the first time in the BBS Sprints.

We have the Masters vs Kids gala and the Last Chance County qualifier to look forward to before we tackle our next block of training, up to and through the Surrey Counties.  At the Surrey Counties we have more relay teams entered than ever before and we will be reviewing these and notifying people next week. We have had minimal drop out so hopefully we won’t need to change too many, if any teams. A very exciting time for the club!

We are currently finalising squad moves for the new year and these will be released shortly. I am trying to keep the training schedule running as best as possible over the festive period. You should have all received an email from Pip on Friday 13 December with the details.

The FSC programme is going from strength to strength. I would like to thank everyone behind the scenes for their support and all those that are working closely with me (you know who you are), to make my ambition for FSC a reality.

Finally, the second phase of interviews for the assistant coach is now over. Shortlisting is taking place as we speak. And I am hopeful to be able to announce the new appointment in January.

I would like to wish all members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and let’s end on a high by smashing the Arena League on Saturday.

Comrades, first many thanks to Paul Davis for organising such a great Christmas Dinner – great fun was had by all!!

As we hurtle towards Christmas there are some things to report – first there is no Masters swimming on Sunday 5th January due to the Last Chance gala.

And if anybody is interested (and not already signed up) or knows someone, we are still looking for swimmers for the Kids V Masters Gala on Sunday 22nd December. It was a great event last year and we need to seek revenge after losing last time! Please let me or team manager Charlotte know asap.

Into 2020, the K2 gala in January is now closed for entries. The next big event for FSC will be in March (Bracknell 25th anniversary). We normally take a large team to this event as its fairly local with plenty of opportunities to do relays (including a 25 by 25 special and 4 x 25 fly).  This time I plan to try to sort the after curry/dinner in advance!

Details can be found below. Please let me know if you would like to participate in the relays.

We will be looking to organise a social in February (using surplus funds from Christmas). It will be a chance to have a beer, a catch up, plan for the future, a chance to discuss Budapest in June and our socials and plans for 2020! Happy swimming in the meantime.
