TOM SARAH - Assistant Head Coach
Tom’s swimming and coaching journey begun at West Suffolk Swimming Club where he began volunteering from the age of 13 before moving to Cambridge to attend University studying Sports Coaching and Physical Education. In Tom’s final year at University, he was Head Coach at Royston Swimming Club before becoming Assistant Head Coach at City of Cambridge Swimming Club in 2016 following graduation. Tom is a level 3 qualified coach.
Tom’s passion is to help each and every swimmer meet and exceed their swimming potential.
CATHERINE ROBERTS - Academy Lead Coach
Catherine joined the CoCSC coaching team in 2004 as an ASA Level 2 Teacher and achieved the ASA Club Coach Level 3 qualification in 2006. She took a circuitous route into coaching, having graduated from UCL with a BSc. (Hons) Chemistry with a European Language and then spending a few years in research, followed by an initial career as a trainee patent attorney working for multinational companies and in private practice.
Catherine swum in her childhood years in Australia and outside work, swimming became her passion and led her to a professional career in coaching. Catherine particularly enjoys coaching age group swimmers; helping them improve their strokes and skills and seeing them develop into confident competitive swimmers who reach their swimming potential.
DAVE HORNE - Head Coach Para Swimming Squad
David is an ASA Level 4 Coach and has been teaching and coaching swimming since 1998. He has coached swimmers of all ages and at all levels including National & International athletes, Triathletes and Iron Man competitors.
Starting as Assistant Coach, over the last 20 years David has been Head Coach of both City of Cambridge and Hitchin Swimming Clubs, and for the last 8 years has been specialising in coaching para swimming, seeing many of the club’s swimmers through to receiving multiple podium placings, national titles and competing at International events.
JUSTIN SMITH - Assistant Coach
Justin started working as a swimming teacher gaining a level 2 teaching qualification. Shortly after returning to his swimming roots, Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club, Justin worked with them and Guilford City Swimming Club, both teaching and coaching and gaining valuable experience. Justin then moved to Cambridge to study Sports Science at Anglia Ruskin University, and has been coaching with the City of Cambridge Swimming Club, gaining his level 2 coaching qualification, and is currently in his final year of studies.
