British Masters Nationals Long-Course 2019
Daryl Mason and John Cunningham have just returned from Swansea where the competed at the GB Masters Nationals. JC represents his Irish club at major meets, but both did their bit for PBSC!
Some great results - starting off with a Bronze for JC in the 100 Free (57.63), followed by a Silver in the 100 Fly (1:01.77) just missed gold by .04! Gutted!
This was swiftly followed by Gold in the 100 breast for Daryl (1.11.1) with a brilliant 50m split of 32.4.
JC followed this with Gold in the 50 fly (26.72) - great swim, and faster than his efforts in the Euro masters last year.
Daryl took the bronze in 50 fly (27.90....silver went 27.85 to Craig Bransby of Enfield… small margins, should have shaved his eyebrows).
Closing the Saturday off, the 50 Free - another great race between the crazy threesome again! Daryl and Craig dead-heated for gold on 25.64, and JC close behind for bronze in 25.74.
Finally on the Sunday, JC narrowly missed Gold in the 50 Breast by .01 - again, gutted! (32.14) either he needs to also shave his eyebrows or grow his nails, but really he must sort out his underwater phase - lessons learned!
JC Wrapped up his programme with a Gold in the mixed 200+ 400m Free relay, with a new Irish record with Aer Lingus.
All in all, another great weekend of racing at the Nationals and JC will be now be focusing on the European Masters Games in Torino at the end of July, and Daryl will be focusing on chilling and surfing!
