DURHAM CITY & SAFEGUARDING

At Durham City Amateur Swimming and Water Polo Club, as a Swim Mark club, we are committed to help your child to enjoy their training, learn to train hard and to achieve their potential. The coaches and poolside helpers are here to help your child to do that and have been trained to do so in a safe and proper manner. Your child will get to know their coach and if they or you have any concerns about training please talk this over with the coach.

We want your child to succeed at swimming and/or water polo and to ensure they are safe and happy in the club and that we act upon anything that prevents that.

We want to make sure that any club member is not being:-

• Bullied
• Treated differently to others
• Hurt by another person on purpose
• Ignored

Preventing such behaviour is very important to us as a club and to achieve that we have adopted Swim England's Safeguarding Policy called Wavepower. If you would like to look at Wavepower the club Welfare Officer will have a copy or it can be viewed and downloaded from the links section of this website.

If you have any concerns about bullying or poor behaviour towards your child please discuss this with their coach, Club Welfare Officer or any other member of the committee.

If you have any concerns:-
Our Club Welfare Officer is Fiona Milnes, who can be contacted at
welfare@dcasc.org.uk

Swim England also have a helpline called Swimline if you want to tell someone but not anyone in the club. The number is 0808 100 400. You will be asked to leave a number at which you can be contacted in the next 24 hours. If you feel you cannot wait that long for someone to talk to you hang on and you will be put through to the NSPCC / Child Line helpline number who will answer your call immediately.

Child Power is a Swim England section of the Swim England website just for young people. It has a message link by which a young person can send a concern in writing to the Swim England Safeguarding Team who will help them with whatever issue they have raised.
