For Youth (14yr+) swimmers with less pressure to compete, but can still take part in any competitions they qualify for.

Stroke technique is generally good, and swimmers are aiming to make their stroke more efficient.  Knowledge of starts, turns, and finishes is good, and swimmers are working towards making them more efficient.

Overview

Development Youth swimmers are expected to:

  • For competitive swimmers – have a goal to swim in County Challenge, Club Championships and any other open meets that they qualify for.
  • Be on poolside at least 10 minutes before the session to complete an efficient land warm up and be briefed before the session.
  • Take responsibility for their own training and development.
  • Bring your own, goggles, hat, kick board, pull buoy, water bottle and fins to every session.

Training

Training will be based on developing good physical conditioning as well as excellent technique all four strokes as well as starts, turns and finishing skills. Training will also continue to develop strength, core body strength and maintain suppleness.

To get the best out of your swimming now and in the future, it is recommended that you aim to attend 2 sessions per week along with a land training session.

Performance reviews

Performance reviews will be carried out at the end of every term to monitor swimmers’ progress and assess their ability to move to the next squad.  If a swimmer is not meeting the criteria for the squad, it will be discussed with parents to determine a more appropriate squad.

Squad Fees

  • £36 per month
  • Annual fees - £35 per year (or £56 for families) for membership and insurance (payable in January or upon joining club)
  • Each additional child in family gets 20% discount on monthly fee
  • Monthly fee covers all squad sessions (including land training)

Payment Options

Payments are due on the 1st of each month, and paid by standing order.  Please note that payments are not to be handed to squad coaches.
