Qualifying Times
A provisional set of qualifying times has now been published containing automatic and base (consideration) times.
We will accept all swimmers who achieve the automatic time
We expect to accept most swimmers who achieve the base time
Times must be set in meets licensed at Level 1, 2 or 3, between 1st June 2019 and the closing date.
We will be selecting entries based on the target number of swimmers in the table below. Although we expect to be able to accept all swimmers with times faster than the slowest qualifying swimmer for the Swim England Summer Meet, we are not in a position to guarantee this because of the limitations on time available. This applies particularly to events of 400m and longer.
The number of swims we are aiming for is:

The numbers in brackets were the target number in 2019.
Wednesday 23rd October - Current Status
We have now confirmed pool availability and dates for these championships.
After discussion with coaches, we have agreed, for this year only, to extend session lengths for the 15/over championships to allow us to accept more swimmers. This will place additional demands on coaches, officials and other volunteers, but we feel that this is necessary to avoid rejecting any swimmers who have a realistic chance of qualifying for the GB National Championships or the Swim England Summer Meet.
The format of the 14/under championships is unchanged for 2020.
Provisional schedules of events can now be downloaded.
We hope to be in a position to publish qualifying times before the end of this month.
Monday 23rd July - Current Status
After considerting a number of options, we have now settled on the "least bad" option.
We tried to get access to K2 on Friday May 8th (the new date for the Bank Holiday). That is not possible.
We do have access to Wycombe on Monday May 4th.
We now have 3.5 days for 15/over.
We are not able to offer additional time compared to 2019 and once again may not be able to accept everyone who has a realistic chance of making the Swim England Summer Meet
Monday May 4th is a School Day. We tried to avoid having to use that day, but have not identified any realistic alternative.
Sunday July 14th 2019 - Current Status
Planning the 2020 Championships is now proving to be very challenging. To quote one of the coaches: "There is no good solution, we need to look for the least bad one."
The challenges are:
The closing date of the National Qualifying Window has been brought forward from the end of May to 10th May.
GCSE examinations start on 11th May.
The government has moved the early May bank holiday from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May.
We really need 4 full days for the 15/over championships to ensure that all swimmers who have a realistic change of qualifying for National competitions.
Our original intent was to hold a 4 day meet for the 15/Over Championships over the bank holiday weekend.
The Swimming Group, with the support of the Regional Management Board have decided that it would be irresponsible to hold a 4 day competition over the 7th-10th May because of the proximity of examinations
