Wycombe District Swimming Club runs Stroke Improver Sessions at Handy Cross Leisure Centre.
We accept children into the club Stroke Improver Classes, after they have reached level 8 (NPTS) following their Learn to Swim Program. In our Stroke Improver section at the club we concentrate on the three main strokes of front crawl, Breaststroke and Backstroke, with the emphasis on stroke work. We also emphasise the importance of Streamlining and Skills. These sessions focus on preparing the children for entry into the Club Academy, once their strokes have reached the required level.
This is an ideal way to introduce your child to club swimming and ensure they are at the right level prior to joining the main club squads.
Stroke Improvers Sessions run throughout the year; with trials taking place on a monthly basis. Usually swimmers should expect to spend between 3 to 9 months in our stroke improver groups, before moving up.
Ages are identified below in the table, but ultimately this is at the discretion of the Stroke Improver Lead Coaches.
