WELFARE & CHILD PROTECTION
Nova Centurion is committed to treat everyone equally within the context of their activity, regardless of sex, ethnic origin, religion, disability or political persuasion.
The Club believes that the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility and that all children and young people have a right to have fun, be safe and be protected from harm.
It has in accordance with ASA Laws adopted the ASA Child Protection Procedures; and members of the Club shall in accordance with ASA Laws comply with the ASA Child Protection Procedures.
As part of the ASA Child Protection Procedures, Nova Centurion Swimming Club is required to ensure that any adult who has personal contact, in any capacity, with any club members under the age of 18 completes and sends to the ASA a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) form – previously known as a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) form.
These people would generally include those involved in what is now defined as regulated activity -
Regulated activity is defined as “unsupervised activities: teaching, training, instructing, caring for or supervising children, or providing advice/guidance on well-being, or driving a vehicle only for children if done regularly. In this context, ‘regular’ means carried out by the same person frequently (once a week or more often), or on 4 or more days in a 30-day period (or in some cases, overnight).”
If you are already have a DBS check with your base club you will not need to complete one for your work with Nova, but will need to provide a copy of this.
DBS forms are available from the Club Welfare Officer, and you should ensure that if the conditions mentioned above apply to you, that you complete a form.
If a swimmer has any concerns or worries, or if any person is concerned or worried about the welfare of a swimmer, if appropriate, they should speak to one of the Club Coaches or contact the Club Welfare Officer.
Our Welfare Officer is Mrs Rachel Boneham. Please make contact by emailing email@example.com
Alternatively, there is a ASA SwimLine available on 0808 1004001.
