Between 22nd and 29th October 2016, Chalfont Otters took 28 swimmers from the senior squads, 2 coaches and 7 team managers on a warm weather swim training camp at the fabulous 5* Coral Beach Hotel in Paphos, Cyprus.
We had 7 days of beautiful warm sunshine, 4 hours a day in the Olympic size swimming pool, one session before breakfast and another in the afternoon before dinner. The rest of the day was broken up with land training, open water swimming, stretching, eating (the buffet meals were amazing although some cared more for the pancakes and doughnuts than the more Mediterranean style foods!), and with whatever time remained, relaxing by the pool or on the beach.
Such a grueling regime did mean a few tight muscles along the way but no serious injuries to report. It was intense, action packed and everyone hugely enjoyed themselves with the swimmers returning home fitter, stronger, faster and loving 50m pools.
Thanks to our friends at the Cyprus Tourist Board and TFT Swimming Camps for helping to put on the trip. We look forward to having a similar camp in the near future.
