South East Regionals 2017

South East Regionals - 15/Over

Saturday 29th April, Sunday 30th April & Monday 1st May

EPSC had a very successful meet with the first day being our most successful.  Our 4 swimmers exceeded their own expectations with amazing swims resulting in PB's and 4 finals!

Cameron White - over 1 second PB in his 50m Breastroke and nearly 2 seconds in 100m Breastroke resulted in both achieving a final spot.  Cameron has an amazing work ethic since an unfortunate incident leading up to the Surrey Champs resulted in him being unable to compete due to a broken arm.  Cameron was back in the pool / land training within days of his operation to his right wrist and has shown exceptional determination to make these Regionals and achieve his times.  He has done himself super proud with his swims over the weekend.

Eve Perry - achieved a 0.75 second PB in the 100m Freestyle at the first session resulting in her achieving the 8th spot in the final .  Eve had a very loooong day - having swum first thing in the morning, waiting all day and not swimming the final until nearly 7pm  She came out with a fantastic 1.02.07 .. a further 0.2 off that morning PB! Plus 5th placing in the final.  Brilliant swim Eve!

Glen Melson - who we rarely see train but seems to pull out the results!  Glen was apprehensive 2 weeks ago when entries were required .. was he fit enough!?! Yes he was - going into the event ranked 12th, pulled out a PB of 24.09 in the heat to be 5th fastest for the final.  Another PB in the final - 24.06 - and a highly credible 4th - he is a machine!

Brigit Wilson - two swims on the first day with 100m Free; slightly outside her PB and a credible 16th placing in the 15yr girls.  Followed up with a strong performing 100m Breast - to achieve the PB.  Brilliant swimming Brigit.

Maddie Harris - after having 4 days in Sheffield at the Para-International meet, Maddie swam the 400m Freestyle in the Multi-Class classification.  She achieved a 12 sec PB to bring her time down to 7min.4sec.  A great improvement.

EPSC are extremely proud of our swimmers at 15 & Over Regionals.  Our small club has not had that level of finalists for many years and shows how exceptional our swimmers are.  They have all shown resilience and dedication to their events.

South East Regionals - 14 & Under

Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th May and Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th May

The South East Regionals for 14 & Under were held over two weekends in May.  Elmbridge Phoenix had a total of 45 accepted entries from our 7 qualifiers.

There were 76 Swimming Clubs that had swimmers qualify for the Regionals, with EPSC being 23rd = ranking club on total entries.  This was the 4th= Surrey Club - an amazing achievement for our relatively small club.  In terms of average number of swims, EPSC had 6.43 per swimmer – only 2nd Surrey Club behind Guildford City on 6.52 and 9th Club overall.

12 Year Old Boys – Ryan Rautenbach

Ryan had a fantastic championship with our only medal winner.  He achieved 5 finals (100m Free, 50m Back, 50m Butterfly, 100m Back, 50m Free) – with taking 2 Bronze medals in the 50m and 100m Back.  He gained a personal best on each of his events excluding the 200m Free.

3rd – 50m Back / 100m Back

5th – 100m Free

6th – 50m Butterfly / 50m Free

14 Year Old Boys – Matthew O’Sullivan

Matt had qualified in 10 events and decided to enter 9.  He swam all 9 being seeded between 12th – 24th in all the events.  Matt’s first weekend was with swims just slightly outside his best times, however the second weekend saw Matt shine and did 3 PB’s with qualifying for the 50m Breast final.  He swam a tremendous race, taking a second off his PB (33.86sec) and coming 6th overall.

14 Year Old Boys – Dylan Dejahang

Dylan had qualified in all the Backstroke events ranging from 14th – 17th.  He swam the 50m Back on the first weekend and had an unfortunate slip on the start meaning he was outside his PB.  Dylan did not swim his 100m or 200m Back on the final weekend, hunting out other opportunities at meets to improve his 50 time.  He has improved immensely since joining EPSC 12 months ago.

12 Year Old Girls – Cerys Howells

Cerys qualified for 11 events ranging across all distances and strokes.  She swam 7 of the events, amounting to 3 personal best times.  She had a 12 second PB on the 800m Free coming in 5th overall.  On the final weekend, she qualified for the 200m Free final, slightly outside her PB set in April and was 7th overall.

Cerys missed 3 of her events on the Sunday of the first weekend, as she is a super talented triathlete and had a London Tri.  She won the event and is now on track to be selected for an England Tri Squad.   She is a superstar!

12 Year Old Girls – Kennedy Gordon

Kennedy qualified for all the Freestyle events (50, 100, 200, 400 & 800m) with her entry ranking being between 5th– 16th.  She improved or equalled on all events except the 200m where unfortunately she wobbled on the block and fell in.  She qualified for 2 finals (50m and 100m) with a PB on all swims.

4th – 800m Free

5th – 400m Free

6th – 50m / 100m Free

13 Year Old Girls – Zara Pratt-Hart

Zara qualified for 4 events (200m IM, 50m Breast, 100m Breast & 50m Butterfly).  She improved her ranking in all 4 events and had a fantastic PB on the 100m Breast this past weekend.  Zara is a super positive, happy swimmer who will only improve and excel in the future.

14 Year Old Girls – Emily Pilgrim

Emily has had an extremely successful swimming season with what seems like PB after PB before the Regionals.  She qualified for 6 events with her ranking in her age group being 19th – 26th.  She improved immensely and had further PBs on 3 of her swims with the finest being at the first weekend – 100m Backstroke.  Emily went from 23rdranked to 8th qualifier for the final.  She swam a fantastic race and ended up 7th overall.

These Junior Performance swimmers have achieved outstanding results this year at Surrey County and South East Regionals.  They are all positive and motivated individuals that have great work ethic at training.  As Head Coach I am very proud of their achievements this season and looking forward to what we can work to together for 2017/2018.
