SQUAD STRUCTURE EXPLAINED

MINNOWS: Children can join swimming lessons in Minnows from the age of 4 years old.  Swimmers in Minnows swimming lessons will start their ASA Level Awards.

From Minnows swimmers progress into Juniors Lane 1 easing their transition into the competition pool.  Swimmers in this squad continue with their swimming lessons and work towards advancing into the Junior main squad.

From Minnows, swimmers progress into the Juniors ‘Lane 1 squad’ easing their transition into the competition pool.  Swimmers in this squad work on achieving ASA Levels 5/6 then advancing into the Juniors squad.

The club has two tracks, a competitive track and a competitive development track.  The onset of these tracks begins with advancement from the Juniors squad into either the Performance 2 squad or the Development squad, generally the skills of the swimmers are very similar however the age of the swimmers in the Performance 2 squad is younger.  

JUNIORS LANE 1 & JUNIORS SQUAD:  During the swimming lessons the swimmers work toward achieving ASA Levels 6/7/8.  Participation in the Club Mini Meet and PRIDE achievement test sets is encouraged. 

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD:  Swimmers work toward achieving ASA Level 10.  Swimmers are encouraged to participate in the Club Championships and PRIDE achievement test sets.

FITNESS 2 SQUAD:  This is a transitional squad for swimmers who have progressed from the Development squad and are continuing to maintain regular attendance and striving to progress into a performance squad or County Squad.  Participation in local Open Meets, Club Championships and PRIDE achievement test sets is encouraged.

FITNESS 1 SQUAD:  This squad is for swimmers age 13 and over who wish to continue and improving upon their swimming conditioning and skills.   Participation in local Open Meets and Club Championships is encouraged.

PERFORMANCE 2 SQUAD:  Swimmers work toward achieving ASA Level 10.  This is the first step of the competitive track and swimmers are encouraged to participate in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets, local open meets and PRIDE achievement test sets.

PERFORMANCE 1 SQUAD:  The Performance 1 squad is part of the continuing competitive track and requires a minimum attendance of three training sessions weekly.  Expectations include participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and Open Meets plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets.  Swimmers are working toward county and regional levels.

COUNTY 2 SQUAD:  The County 2 squad is a continuation of the competitive track and requires a minimum attendance of four training sessions weekly.  Expectations include participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and Open Meets plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets.  Swimmers are working toward county and regional levels.

COUNTY 1 SQUAD:  This is a preparatory squad prior to advancing into the Regional squad and requires a minimum attendance of four training sessions weekly.  Expectations include participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and Open Meets plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets. 

REGIONAL SQUAD:  This squad is the leading competitive squad at FSC for swimmers aiming for county, regional and national levels of competition.  A minimum of six training sessions weekly and land training sessions are required.  Expectations include participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets, Open Meets and Open Water events plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets. 

All Squad advancement from the Juniors squad to the Regional squad is based upon criteria that includes but not limited to, age of the swimmer, attendance record, a demonstration of improved skill levels, PRIDE test set results, training and competition results.
