SQUAD STRUCTURE EXPLAINED

MINNOWS: Children can join Minnows from the age of 4 years old.  Swimmers in Minnows will start their ASA Level Awards.

From Minnows swimmers progress into Tadpoles ‘Lane 6 squad’ easing their transition into the competition pool.  Swimmers in this squad work on advancing into Tadpoles Red or Black squads.

The club has two tracks, a competitive track and a competitive development track.  The onset of these tracks begins with the Tadpoles Red and Black squads, generally the skills of the swimmers in these two squads are very similar however the age of the swimmers in the Red squad is younger.  

TADPOLES RED SQUAD and TADPOLES BLACK SQUAD:  Swimmers work toward achieving ASA Levels 7/8.  Participation in the Club Mini Meet and PRIDE achievement test sets is encouraged.

Progression from Tadpoles to Frogs is dependant on improved skill levels, PRIDE test set results, age of the swimmer and attendance record.

The competitive and competitive developmental tracks become more evident as swimmers progress into the Frogs Squads.  As with the Tadpoles Squads, the Red swimmers being younger the same applies to the Frogs Squads.  Additionally the Frogs Red Squad has a minimum attendance requirement and expectations of participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and PRIDE achievement test sets.

FROGS RED SQUAD and FROGS BLACK SQUAD:  Swimmers work toward achieving ASA Level 10.

NEWTS SQUAD:  This is a transitional squad for swimmers who have progressed from Frogs and are continuing to maintain regular attendance and striving to progress into the competitive Starfish Squad.  Participation in Club Championships is encouraged.

STARFISH SQUAD:  Starfish squads is part of the continuing competitive track and requires a minimum attendance of 4 sessions weekly.  Expectations include participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and Open Meets plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets.  Swimmers working toward county and regional level.

SHARKS BLACK SQUAD:   This is a transitional squad for swimmers who are continuing to maintain regular attendance and striving to progress into either the Sharks Red or Regional squad.  Participation in the Club Championships is encouraged.

SHARKS RED SQUAD: The Sharks Red squad is for swimmers at County or Regional level unable to attend the required number of sessions expected in the Regional Squad.  Expectations include participation in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and Open Meets plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets.

REGIONAL SQUAD: This squad is the leading competitive squad at FSC for swimmers aiming for county, regional and national levels of competition.  A minimum of six sessions weekly and land training sessions is required.  Expectations include participation  in the Club Championships, FSC Gala Selection Meets and Open Meets plus participation in the PRIDE achievement test sets.
