Junior Skills Squad

JUNIOR SKILLS SQUAD

This group's focus is on developing the skills required for competitions and progression to the competition squads. .

  • AGE GROUPS:  8-12
  • SESSIONS:  2 x 1 hour per week plus 30 minutes land training.
  • AIM:  Develop and maintain skills in all??strokes for level 4/3 competition over 50-200m, develop swim times portfolio working towards level 2 (County Qualifying times) and Squad Times (Junior/Senior Competition Squads)

EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR JUNIOR SKILLS SQUAD

The following equipment is required for the Junior Skills Squad sessions: - hat, goggles (properly adjusted), drink - preferably water or well diluted squash (at least 1/2 litre per half hour), fins, kickboard and snorkel (junior/small size).

 

COMPETTIONS FOR JUNIOR COMP LEVEL

Target Team Competitions - Four Seasons and Mini. Teams are selected for these Competitions, and posted on the Web site in good time. If you are selected for a Competition, then you should make every effort to compete in it, and tick your name at the earliest opportunity.

Open Competitions such as the Somerset Development, Somerset's and Clevedon and Chard Open and other level 2/3 galas. These Competitions usually (but not always) have qualifying times for each event, and if you qualify you should enter. 

Club Championships – All distances for all strokes.  You should enter as many as you can – and your coach thinks suitable .
