Reading Swimming Club Lessons
Learn to Swim with Reading Swimming Club
We welcome anyone interested in learning to swim or wanting to improve their strokes from the age of 4 up to adult. Our swimming teachers are well qualified and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest for the sport of swimming.
The club is very proud to be Swim21 accredited. This provides evidence that the club and its programs and policies has been scrutinised, and found to be current and up-to-date with all the required regulations and that it will continue to improve.
All our swimmers wear colour-coded swimming hats, for safety and hygiene reasons. This also denotes the level of ability of the swimmer within our award scheme, and to be recognised as part of Reading Swimming Club. We supply every swimmer with a new hat when they start each level.
We run the Teaching Programme from three different venues:
- Highdown School, Emmer Green (Tuesday evening) Level 2 and above
- Sonning Common Primary School (Friday evening) Levels 1-3 only
- Kendrick Girls' School (Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning)
- St Andrew's School, Pangbourne (Wednesday evening)
Our programme of lessons are structured to encourage progression from each level to the next as the swimmer improves. Courses run from 10-14 weeks and are paid in advance. Levels 1 - 8 lessons run for 30 minutes. Academy lessons run for 45 minutes. Swimfit and Adult lessons are 1 hour.
At the top end of our teaching programme if your swimmer would like to take part in swimming competitions we encourage swimmers to move into our training section - starting with the Link/Development 4 Squad which is 2 sessions a week. Please see our 'Join Us' button on the home page or the 'Squad' tab for more details.
The first step is to arrange a free trial session.
To request an invitation to a free trial session please click here.
This will send a message to our Assistant Head Coach and Teaching Coordinator, where one of us will aim to get back to you within 48 hours.
When requesting a Trial, please tell us
- Your name
- Swimmer's name and date of birth
- Swimming experience to date
- Your email address and contact phone number
After your free 30 minute session the Teacher and Teaching Coordinator will provide individual feedback and allocate an appropriate Level.
You will then need to register using the on-line registration process. This should be a straightforward process, but we are always here to help if necessary.
The registration process is simple for both new and returning families. You’ll get access to your own private account to view/edit your contact information and current and past class histories. Your instructor and class details will be supplied after the trial or via email prior to the beginning of the new term.
