Newbury Masters is the adult squad within Newbury District Swimming Club. We are a friendly group catering for swimmers from the age of 18 and upwards. Our swimmers participate from a casual level right up to a highly competitive level. Many swim to keep fit or improve their stroke technique, whilst others compete in Masters Swimming competitions, Triathlons and Open Water events. Most of our members joined because they either swam in the past or were swimming at local public sessions. Alongside the pool swimming we also meet regularly at the pub and have several social events during the year.
What is Masters Swimming ?
A “Masters Swimmer” is just a swimmer in the age range from 25 to 90+. Masters competitions consist of 5 year age ranges, but most also include an 18-24 Senior category. For those swimmers who wish to compete, we enter a few local Masters competitions each year and some of our swimmers also compete in higher level regional or national level competitions.
The Masters coach is Dave Milburn, an ASA Level 2 qualified coach with over 30 years of Masters experience. Dave currently holds 5 British Masters records and is the current World Masters champion for 50m and 200m Breaststroke in the 55-59 age group. All sessions are coached with a structured programme for stroke and fitness improvement.
Masters Session Times
Monday 19:30-20:30 Hungerford
Wednesday 20:30-21:30 Hungerford
