CABSC V Leander

Monday 13th March 2017. FINAL SCORE CABSC 13, NOTTS LEANDER 9

Bingham began the new season, with a brilliant team performance and win. Back in their own pool after the loss to Southwell in the cup, they were against an experienced side in Leander, but Bingham's mix of youth and experience set the tone early finishing the first quarter 6-0. A similarly impressive second quarter followed with Bingham continuing to lead going into the third. Although with some nervous play but impressive work rate in the third from Bingham, Leander crept back into the game. The fourth is again where Bingham began to shine with goals spread amongst the team throughout the game. The team regrouped and pushed again to carry us over the line. Great display from the whole team, great team spirit and desire being shown onwards and upwards for the rest of the season.

Holmes, Musson, Cummings, Lawson, Henesy, Sztejer, Bendelow, Hill, Leveridge, Bleakley, Anesley, Fells, Carrington (c).

Next Match away at Grantham 23rd March 9pm.

Nottinghamshire KO League

Thursday 23rd February - Nottinghamshire League  KO

Southwell 18 vs Bingham Stingrays 2 - This was always going to be a very difficult match for the Stingrays with South well having many very experienced players and this showed in the first quarter with Bingham having little response, finishing 6-0 down. This is where Bingham started to fight back showing the grit and determination for the team that has been lacking over the last few seasons - the team rallied and produced two excellent 2nd and 3rd quarters. This is what the 'team' is all about - the fight for each other was excellent and although the chances weren't been converted for us there was still plenty of positives to take from the game. Although the final quarter wasn't the best, the team stuck together to see out the game, which is very impressive for the future.

Team Welch, Cummings, Leveridge, Lawson, Sjtzier, Carrington, Henesy, Fells, Hill, Ainsley, Holmes, Musson.

Waterpolo news Feb 2017

CABSC Stingrays 17 – Hucknall Masters 16     Monday 13th Feb 2017

The Nottinghamshire League Knock out Cup 1st round saw Stingrays entertain Hucknall Masters who finished in the top three of the league in last season so it was never going to be an easy game. With the Stingrays trying to utilize their speed and fitness in the 1st quarter the teams seemed equally matched and were level pegging at the end of the second quarter. In the 3rd Quarter though it turned and the Stingrays quickly gave away three easy goals to the Hucknall Centre forward Siddons who was on top form. Then the Stingrays quickly hit back with a superb finish from Musson who had worked hard all game. Shots from Henesey, Captain Tom Carrington and Musson were saved by ex GB keeper Wall and Stingrays struggled to break the deadlock, Leveridge flicked one wide and the wood work saved Hucknall again. Going in to the final quarter Leveridge and Bendelow who had struggled hard all game to defend against a strong and well drilled attack had ended up picking up 2 majors each. The teams fought hard and Stingrays were one up at the end of the last quarter, another exclusion and Hucknall called a time out with 40 seconds left in the game Andy Johns fired over the outstretched Welch in goals and Stingrays got the ball back with 10 seconds on the clock, a quick time out for Stingrays and all they needed to do was hold on. With the clock ticking and Sztejer and Bendelow holding on to possession on half way the clock ticked down and the final whistle went for Stingrays to come out winners 17 – 16.

A great game and hard fought, Hucknall were the dominant team in places however the determination and team spirit of the Stingrays team is superb going into this season and showed throughout the match.

Next game is away vs Southwell on the 23rd at Djanogly Leisure Centre.

Squad: Neil Welch, John Musson, Wayne Cummings, Paul Bendelow, Joe Leveridge, James Sztejer, Tom Carrington (C), Charlie Henesey, Toby Petchell, Paul Bleackley, Jack Hill, Sintjin Ansley, William Holmes.

Good Luck to Sam Wass

Sam Wass played his last match for the water polo team last week, before heading off to join the Royal Marines. Sam has been a player for CABSC for 10 years, and will be missed by the rest of the team. We wish him success in his new life.

Victory for men’s Water Polo team

Thursday 8th November saw our men’s water polo team beat South Derbyshire in the area Knockout Handicap competition. South Derbyshire fielded a men’s team with six County Level players, against our team which has six players under 18. Pictured receiving the cup is Charlie Henesy, at 13 our youngest player.

Mayor of Rushcliffe referees Water Polo at Bingham

The mayor of Rushcliffe, Cllr Gordon Moore, visited the Water Polo section in May 2012 at one of their weekly training sessions. For many years Cllr Moore was a national water polo referee, and started up the original Bingham water polo team over 12 years ago. Cllr Moore put the juniors through their paces as he refereed a match, and said afterwards: “It’s great to be here tonight and to see so many smiling faces. The good thing about water polo is that it keeps young people swimming - I’m really pleased that the water polo club has kept going and continues to grow.”

Water Polo is a fast and energetic sport which is also available to all members of CABSC for no extra charge to your swimming training fees. With the competent coaches and friendly environment, you may be surprised how good you get.

Why not give it a try?  Training sessions are as follows:

Mondays        9.15 – 10pm       Senior squad
Thursdays     7 – 8pm               Juniors, beginners and senior squad

For further information contact Rachel Leveridge WP Squad Co-ordinator via this website, or pop along and have a go on a thursday!
