Paul has been involved in swimming as both swimmer and coach for more than 50 years: you could say that chlorine runs through his veins. Over the last four decades, Paul has coached hundreds of athletes from a wide range of backgrounds including age groupers, masters, para swimmers and triathletes. His athletes have enjoyed success at every level from County, Regional and National championships, to Europeans, Worlds and Paralympics.

Paul joined Haringey Aquatics in 2009 as our Head of Competitive Programme, and has successfully led the club in raising the standard of competitive squads with some fantastic achievements along the way, including coaching the first female national swimmer in the Club’s History.

Paul is a Swim England Senior (Level 3) Swimming Coach and holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in the Science of Sports Coaching. He works full time as the Head of Physical Education at a London school.

Nathan Joseph

Head of Development and Head of Programme

Nathan is Head of Development at Haringey Aquatics and Head of Programme at Park Road Pools, responsible for our competitive and senior competitive squads there. He is a Swim England Senior (Level 3) Swimming Coach with over a decade of experience in swim coaching with the club.

Nathan has a holistic approach to coaching our swimmers. He seeks to instil discipline, punctuality, resilience and a positive work ethic - skills that will benefit our young athletes throughout their lives - and creates a fun, social environment for training. Nathan encourages his swimmers not to be afraid of what could go wrong but to be excited about what could go right and believes in the power of a positive mindset. He is committed to helping all our athletes realise their potential and with this approach, has taken numerous swimmers from our development squads right through the Athlete Development Support Pathway, with a number of his swimmers achieving medals at English and Welsh nationals.

For the last few years Nathan has coached at inter-county competitions, County Development Days for Middlesex and Regional Development days for the London Region.

Jake Austin

Swimming Coach

Jake is a Level 2 qualified Swimming Coach and has been part of the teaching and coaching team at Haringey Aquatics since 2016. Jake joined our Learn to Swim programme as a four-year-old and soon graduated to our competitive swimming programme where, with the benefit of training under Head Coach Paul Doyle and Coach Nathan, he regularly reached County and Regional championships.

Motivated by the desire to give back to a sport and club that had brought him so much joy, Jake qualified as a swimming teacher aged 17 and began investing his time and expertise in our next generation of young athletes. He is passionate that our swimmers enjoy their competitive journey and seeks to ensure they have the tools to realise their potential.
