Potential Squad
The aim of Potential Squad is to introduce more advanced training techniques at the same time as maintaining focus on stroke technique and skills, with the drills learnt in Development Squad progressed. There will be more emphasis on competition and the non-pool-based skills needed to be a competitive swimmer. Potential squad swimmers will be aiming to final and medal at District level and qualify for National Age Championships.
Criteria for entry into this squad include:
- Ability to consistently demonstrate correct basic swimming technique across all 4 strokes.
- Ability to perform multiple repetitions ranging between 50-200m depending on stroke.
- Consistently performs various swimming skills correctly, e.g. turns, streamline, underwater kicking, diving skills.
- Has regularly competed at various levels, e.g. internal club meets, FVJL, external club meets, and/or district meets.
- Has demonstrated a history of consistent training attendance levels.
This squad trains 5 times per week:
Swimmers are recommended to aim to attend at least 4 sessions per week.
The squad also has access to a land training session:
- Saturday's 09:00-10:00 at Stirling University
