STAR-Fish
STAR-Fish is the swimming development squad organised and run by Stirling Swimming Club which is intended to increase the opportunity for young aspiring swimmers to become part of the swimming pathway in Stirling.
Targeting 7-10 year olds who have come through learn to swim programmes and have the basic skills on all four strokes, STAR-Fish provides a competitive swimming club based programme which will develop stroke technique, teach the racing skills of starting, turning and finishing and introduce the concept of training sets. It is anticipated that on completion of the STAR-Fish programme swimmers will be able to move seamlessly into competitive age group swimming.
STAR-Fish Squad swimmers are introduced to competition by racing at the Forth Valley Junior League which is a series of short, team based local club racing opportunities and is an ideal place to start their competitive swimming journey.
STAR-Fish swimmers are required to become members of Scottish Swimming for insurance purposes and will pay a monthly training fee to Stirling Swimming Club which will be payable in advance.
Being a STAR-Fish swimmer does not guarantee entry into the competitive squads of Stirling Swimming Club, and swimmers will have to achieve basic criteria to move into these squads.
This squad trains once per week, on one of either:
- Monday's 18:00-19:00 at Wallace High School
- Thursday's 18:00-19:00 at Stirling High School
