Youth Performance Squad
The aim of Youth Performance Squad is to create an elite training environment for those swimmers in the club who are performing at least at a Scottish National level at the same time as balancing school and other commitments. This squad will prepare swimmers for the performance swimming environment and encourage the development of the skills needed both in and out the pool.
Criteria for entry into this squad include:
- Consistently demonstrates excellent swimming technique across all 4 strokes.
- Demonstrates an ability to cope with higher training volumes and intensity.
- Consistently performs various swimming skills excellently, e.g. turns, streamline, underwater kicking, diving skills.
- Regularly competes in external club meets and district meets across a range of events.
- Some key events which are desirable for swimmers to be competing in at this level include:
- 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m/1500m FC
- 200m, 400m IM
- All "Form" 100m & 200m events (Form = non-FC)
- Some key events which are desirable for swimmers to be competing in at this level include:
- Are at, or very close to achieving a Scottish National Age Group standard.
- Has demonstrated a history of consistent training attendance levels, application of effort in training, and a positive can-do attitude.
This squad trains 7 times per week:
Swimmers are recommended to aim to attend at least 6 sessions per week.
This squad also has access to a land training session:
- 09:00-10:00 at Stirling University
