Clubs are always on the look-out for extra help to help manage and support the day to day running of the club.
There are many different volunteering opportunities and roles to suit your skills and experience. Whether you can spare an hour a week or an hour a day, your time will really make a difference. Governance Roles
The club chairperson is the principal officer for the club and is elected by the club members.
The Treasurer of the club is responsible for producing and managing the club’s accounts and finances and will oversee all income and expenditure for the club.
This role is essential in providing a first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding or welfare concern.
The Club Secretary is key to the smooth running of the club. They provide a main point of contact for administration, information and communication.
The Club Membership Secretary is the key link between the Club and the Swim England membership team. They look after the day to day registration of all club members with Swim England.
A Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all volunteers within a club, and most importantly, ensuring they have a meaningful and positive experience.
Team Roles
The club captain provides a central point of contact, and is the vital link, for athletes within the club.
A poolside helper supports the delivery of club sessions under the supervision of a qualified teacher or coach.
A chaperone’s role is primarily at ‘away’ competitions. They take on the role of a responsible parent for designated swimmers under 18yrs of age.
The Team Manager ensures team cohesion at aquatic events and competitions. This may include the organisation of the logistics where the competition is at a different venue.
Additional Governance Roles
The Vice Chairperson works closely with club chair supporting them to undertake the leadership and governance responsibilities of the club. Generally speaking, the Vice Chairperson will look to step into the role of Club Chairperson when the chairperson is unavailable.
The Fundraising Officer provides a central point of contact for fundraising queries and takes the lead on developing opportunities for accessing grants and funding.
The SwimMark Coordinator is the key point of contact for SwimMark, Swim England’s recognised kite-mark for the development of effective, ethical and sustainable clubs.
