HISTORY OF BURNLEY BOBCATS

Burnley Bobcats swimming club was formed over thirty years ago by Alan Moorhouse MBE. Alan sadly passed away in August 2007 and the general feeling was that Bobcats would fold without him.

However there was a will amongst Parents and swimmers alike that we had something worth saving. A new committee was formed and coaches were enlisted from neighbouring clubs.

On 2 September 2007 a new swimming club ‘Burnley Bobcats ADM’ held it’s first training session at St.Peter’s Leisure Centre, Burnley. The initials ‘ADM’ in the new name stand for ‘Alan David Moorhouse’. He did the hard work – we just carried it on.

Bobcats Swimming Squad

Bobcats aims to continue to develop and grow into a sustainable and thriving all-inclusive community swimming club. Through maintaining our ethos of being swimmer centred, coach driven and parent supported we aim to increase participation and opportunity within swimming, whilst supporting the development and well-being of all our swimmers both in and out of the pool.
