BDSC was established in 1899 and is one of the oldest swimming clubs within the South West region. We provide opportunities for the lifelong enjoyment of swimming from learn to swim through to masters competitive swimming. It is a holder of the English swimming governing body (“the ASA”) quality accreditation kite-mark – swim21 (details here).

Our Learn to Swim programme is centred around the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming which provides the swimmer with the opportunity to progressively develop a broad range of skills and abilities.

Our Competition Squad swimmers represent the club in three leagues (National Arena League, Cotswold Series and Southern Junior League), at County, Regional and National levels, and other types of competitions too. Swimmers who qualify may be supported by the club at Regional & National Championships level. Details of the types of competitions our swimmers may be involved in can be found here.

Bath Dolphin is one of the participating clubs of the City of Bristol network performance club.

All of our Teachers, Coaches and Administrators are volunteers (no payment for services is received by them) and the majority of them have very busy full time jobs.

We are always looking for new volunteers to help spread the load, either on poolside or with administration, for which training and mentoring is available. Financial assistance is normally available for volunteers obtaining relevant swimming qualifications. We also need qualified swimming officials (i.e. people who are responsible for ensuring competition rules are correctly applied during a gala – judges, referees, starters).

Please speak to someone at the Dolphin desk on Tuesday evenings if you can spare an hour or two to help or contact us via the contact page here. We look forward to welcoming you as a member of Bath Dolphin Swimming Club.
