AWARDS & TROPHIES
With a long and distinguished history the club has been able to establish a large collection of trophies which are competed for at the Club Summer and Winter Championships.
In addition to these championship trophies the club also awards a number of discretionary honours, which are listed below.
LORD DE BLAQUIERE CHALLENGE VASE
Lord de Blaquiere was the first Club President and held the office from 1899 to 1920. This trophy was presented from 1928 to the 1970s to the winner of the official handicapped race (i.e. the deliberate delayed starting of swimmers in an event due to their ability). From the 1970s to the present day the trophy has been presented for outstanding success. The trophy is presented at the annual Presentation Night to a Club member who has achieved outstanding success (e.g. obtained a qualifying time and competed at a National competition) in swimming or has served BDSC to an exceptional standard. Nomination for this award can be made by any club member in writing to the Club Secretary by August 31st for approval by the management committee at it’s meeting in September.

GRAHAM CUTTING QPM MEMORIAL TROPHY
First presented in 1999 the trophy was presented to BDSC by BANES council in memory of Graham Cutting QPM who was a long standing Club member who had considerable success as a swimmer and as an Official including, ASA Region President & Hon Secretary, in charge of swimming at the 1995 European Youth Olympics that were held in Bath. Presented at he club dinner in October the trophy is awarded in recognition of a club member who has given dedicated services as a volunteer to BDSC. The trophy is awarded by the Club trustees.

ALKMAAR TROPHIES
These matching trophies were presented to BDSC during its centenary year by DAW, Alkmaar, Holland (BDSC’s twinning Club since 1948). Presented at the annual Presentation Night in December these trophies are awarded in recognition of the male and female swimmers who have made the most significant improvements over the previous 12 months. Nomination these award is made by a teacher or coach for selection by the swimming committee.

JUNIOR SQUAD SWIMMER OF THE MONTH AWARD
Started in 2005 by Steve Pittard and Mark Harris as a means of encouragement for the younger squad swimmers these awards are presented on a monthly basis. These awards are selected by the junior squad coaches and are normally presented to one male and female swimmer who have shown most improvement and/or dedication in training in the previous month.
