There are many ways to get involved with Penguins; teaching, coaching, officiating and many admin roles, to name but a few. If you are interested in volunteering with Penguins or would like more information, please contact Polly Mullen on [email protected]
We currently have a number of roles urgently needing to be filled.
Officials
Description
Officials perform a number of roles at galas such as timekeeping, place judging, turn judging and others. Train to be an official with Bristol Penguins – it’s great fun.
Time
Training takes two classroom sessions plus poolside training. Once qualified, people can officiate at any gala their child swims in.

Masters Admin Assistant
Description
To work as part of a team to make a masters calendar, organise entering meets, update the masters section of the website, liaise with Dave Conlin, organise social events etc.
Time
Some meetings and some admin time.
Location
At home and a few meetings a year.
Open Water Coordinators
Description
To sit on the open water sub-committee to organise a variety of open water events during the season. The admin to include finding sites, writing risk assessments, organising coaching, inviting appropriate swimmers, costings etc.

At home and a few meetings a year.
Teacher / Coach
Description
Teachers and coaches are needed for the swim academy and main squads. Penguins will support people through the training process by pairing trainees with experienced teachers/coaches for observation and to start teaching/coaching small parts of a session. The next step is to sign up for a training course. Once volunteers have helped out regularly (once a week) for six months, Penguins will repay half the course fee and the whole fee after a year of volunteering.

Weekly – sessions can be chosen.

Social / Fundraising Coordinator
Description
To sit on the social / fundraising sub-committee to organise the summer and Christmas parties. To plan, organise and run fundraising and other social events.
Time
Some sub-committee meetings and some admin time.
Location
At home and a few meetings a year.
Website Team
Description
To work as a team to keep the website up to date. To request relevant information to update the website. To liaise with the committee to make any structural changes needed.
