The second weekend of the Gloucester County Championships saw our Penguins team compete in all events ranging from 50m through to 200m breaststroke and from 100m freestyle up to the 800m distance. The team showed great focus in their warm ups and put their attention to detail on swimming skilfully into practice in their heats. February Swim Camps at Badminton School Mon 13th to Fri 17th Feb – Book now Penguins are running a Swim Camp with sessions at Badminton School from Mon 13th to Fri 17th February 2023. These sessions are open to both Penguin members and non-members from Stages 3 & 4, older swimmers who are unable to swim 25m, Swim Academy 1 (stage 5), Swim Academy 2 (stage 6), Swim Academy 3 (stage 7), and Swim Academy 4 (stage 8). The first weekend of the Gloucester County Championships saw 57 Bristol Penguin swimmers compete long course at Hengrove Leisure Centre. The team spirit was excellent and there were plenty of great swims and evaluation of the skills and processes needed to progress. Penguins were represented 59 times in finals, not counting the many great top 3 medallists in events which included the gruelling 400m Individual Medley through to the 100m Breaststroke and the 100m and 200m Butterfly. Overall, Penguins won 4 golds, 12 silvers and 8 bronze medals. Well done...

We look forward to the Penguins and Keynsham Autumn Sprint Meet tomorrow 26th November at Hengrove Park LC. Session 1 warm up is 11am and session 2 warm up is 2.15pm. The programme is here Spectators are welcome and it costs £2 per session and £3 for the whole day. A reminder to register your car at the reception at Hengrove within 3 minutes of arriving, so you don't receive a fine. Parking is free for the first 3 hours and then costs £1 per hour. Josh and David were privileged at the weekend to join the Swim England coaching team on the first National Age Group Development Camp. They joined a team of 10 staff delivering to a selected group of swimmers who came from across the south of England. Sessions outside the pool included shoulder capacity circuits led by a specialist Strength and Conditioning Coach and the completion of individual process and goal setting for the season ahead.
