C&DSC present £750 to RNLI

A cheque presentation was held following a “Swim the Channel” event organised by Crediton and District Swimming Club. It took place on July 6 at the Crediton Swimming Pool at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre. A total of 40 club members swam a total of 40 miles during the two-hour club session and were invited to seek sponsorship towards the RNLI. As a result the total raised for this important charity was £750.
Former Crediton club swimmer Laura Brooks, now a volunteer with the RNLI at Plymouth, received the cheque on October 20 from Club Chairman Paul Saunders.
Also present was Matt Cridge of Sands Civil and Structural Engineers who sponsored a special commemorative t-shirt which each swimmer received. Jane Brimacombe, the Club Coach and Ian Miller organised the event.
