What is kids triathlon?

Swim

This is the first discipline in a triathlon race. It’s often graded so you will be in a lane with others of similar ability and although the distance gets longer the older you get, you find that the length of time you’re in the pool is about the same. You discover that you have become fitter and faster! There are a number of club members that also belong to swimming clubs. We support this because you can't spend too much time in the pool!

Bike

The second and longest part of the race.  You find yourself mostly on grass which can be hard work especially if the weather gets wet. The larger events are on tarmac and this really gives the athletes the ability to show what they are made of!  Any bike will do but a road or hybrid one is the best. We have a number of bikes for hire if that helps. Again, some of our athletes are also members of cyclocross clubs and compete in the winter months which can really improve your triathlon performances.

Run

The last section and this is not always the athletes favourite. It can be really hard work at this point as the gaps between everyone get bigger, but the finish line is not far away. Our members regularly compete at cross country events and a number of our athletes run for local athletics clubs which allows them to compete in track events also.
