Southampton swimmers Stand up to Cancer with festive T30

James Mactavish CSSC MASTERS

Swimmers from across all of Southampton Swimming Club took part in a very special festive T30 over the weekend as awareness was raised for the well known movement Stand up to Cancer.

A total of 45 swimmers from all squads swam as far as they could for 30mins (15mins for our promising Piranhas!) – with a total distance of 55,750m covered over the early hours of Saturday morning. To put that into context, that’s just over twice the distance of the English Channel!

More importantly, the Club raised a massive £1,200 for Cancer Research UK and other vital charities completely vital research and support for all those effected by the illness. Their work sees 2 out of 4 now survive Cancer, and an expected survival rate of 75% by 2034.

So much more can be done so all at Southampton Swimming Club urge people to continue to contribute to this wonderful cause.
