Mike is a Level 3 coach with over 10 years of coaching experience, joining CoStA in December 2014 from Stratford Sharks. He has led numerous swimmers to Regional Youth and Age Group success and National Age Group finals. Mike had previously been a coach with Worcester ASC while studying for his BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching & Conditioning at University of the West of England. Mike has had great success swimming Medley, achieveing Great Britain and Scotland representation between 1994-2002 (4x European SC; 2x European LC; 1x World SC; 2x Commonwealth Games). Mike is looking forward to building on the recent successes of the club and is looking forward to getting to know the swimmers and the squads. |
Paul Wollaston - Assistant Head Coach (Lead Senior Performance Squad Coach)

Paul is a Level 2 coach with over 11 years of coaching experience. He joined CoStA in 2020 from Cheshunt Swimming Club where he had been Head Coach since 2009, coaching swimmers to County, Regional & National finals.
Paul started his swimming career at Southgate Swimming Club and then moved on to Mermaid Marlin Swimming Club (now Swiss Cottage), and eventually joined Barnet Copthall when it opened in 1978. Here he won an individual bronze in the national age groups 200m freestyle, silver in the age group freestyle relay as well as being a member of the senior men's freestyle relay team that won gold in 1982. He then went into playing water-polo and has represented Great Britain in the Junior European Championships as well as the England men's side in several international competitions.
Paul is keen to bring his skills and experience to CoStA where he will be working alongside Mike Cole and the other coaches to further strengthen the quality of coaching offered as well as getting to know the swimmers and parents.

Lara is a Level 2 Swimming Teacher and coach, and has over twenty years experience of teaching and coaching at clubs and swim schools in Herts and Beds. Lara is passionate about ensuring young swimmers have the opportunity to progress in competitive swimming and convert their potential into performance. As an ex-competitive swimmer and a swim parent, Lara is able to use her experience to coach and develop our swimmers to reach their potential as well as enjoy themselves along the journey.

Josie Hoare - Masters Coach

Josie started coaching with CoStA in 2002 gaining her Club Coaches qualification in 2004. In 2008 she moved to Watford SC where she continues to coach their younger swimmers. Thankfully, the masters retained her services and she has been the CoStA Masters coach for over 20 years. Josie began competitive swimming at the age of 6 with Haringey SC and by 9 years old was winning Counties. While swimming at Mermaid and Marlin SC in Swiss Cottage she reached Regionals and after a move to Hatfield SC was a regular at the Nationals throughout her teenage years. Still enjoying her swimming, but also getting great joy from coaching masters swimmers, many of whom she either swam with as a girl or have coached previously when they were children. |
