World Senior Championships Bronze for Kay!

Iain Chalmers

While our season has been beginning over the last ten days, resident pentathlete Kay Bryson has been finishing her last season with a trip to the Senior Pentathlon World Championships in Bath.

Kay underwent a week of competing in qualifying rounds, then the semi-finals and eventually the final.  She went into the laser run in 6th, before climbing to 3rd to claim the bronze medal - which is her first medal in the senior championships. She followed home an Italian 1 2, with the Italian world champion retaining her title from last year. Even more excitingly the top 3 positions carry qualification spots for the Paris 2024 Olympic games, and Kay will be looking to retain her top 2 status in the UK to secure Olympic Games Qualification for next years meeting in Paris.

In addition, Kay competed in the mixed relay, finishing in a silver medal position alongside her team mates

A huge congratulations to Kay from all at Dinnaton Swimming Club, and we look forward to supporting you into next season and your Olympic ambitions.
