Season Ends in Style at National Championships

Jas D’Cunha, 12, achieved qualifying times to the British Championships (Glasgow) in the 50m & 100m breaststroke as well as a qualifying time for the English Championships (Sheffield) in the 200m breaststroke.

Lloyd Stone,15, also managed qualifying times for the Welsh Championships (Swansea) in the 50m, 100m & 200m backstroke.

For Jas, qualifying for these events exceeded her expectations at the start of the season and she went on to exceed them further by breaking a British record and becoming the fastest 12-year-old 50m breaststroker in British history before claiming a silver medal in the 13/14 category in the final. Whilst she found the rest of her championships more challenging, she has gained valuable experience to take into future meets and can celebrate her outstanding achievements.

Lloyd had an excellent Welsh Championships, which he was attending for the first time. Lloyd swam brilliantly to achieve a personal best time in all 3 of his events, moving up the rankings from his seeded position in the process. He also narrowly missed out on reaching the final of both the 50m and the 200m backstroke.

These excellent achievements highlight the progress of the club & it's swimmers over the last 12 months and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for all of our young, hard working and talented swimmers.
