Dinnaton Host Successful County Qualifier

Nathaniel Rookes

What an absolutely outstanding weekend we have had to close 2019 for the vast majority of our swimmers.

The Dasher, hosted by ourselves in partnership with Devonport Royal, was fun for a wide range of reasons, but from a performance perspective we have come out with 152 new personal best times (79% of races), 69 medals (27šŸ„‡, 25šŸ„ˆ, 17šŸ„‰), 26 new Devon Qualifying Times & 7 Regional Consideration Times!

We are so proud of every competitor this weekend, not just with their performances, but the general positivity they had when attacking each race and supporting each other throughout. Many swimmers were pushed out of their comfort zones and tried events they wouldn't usually consider and many of them found that they were very good at these!

Whilst there were some excellent performances across the board, special mention to Holly Haymes who agreed to try her first 200fly and achieved a Devon Time in doing so, to Thomas Jones & Sophia King for achieving their first sub-30 50fc times, whilst Thomas also broke a 7-year-old club record in the 800m on Friday evening. Also to Elliot Ayers who has achieved his first ever Devon Qualifying Time in the 50bk.
Well done too, to Frida Gallego-Cooper & Megan Harris for winning their respective hot heats!

It's been an outstanding end to the year and it's pleasing to see the efforts in training convert to such good performances.

The final (official) race for Dinnaton in 2019 comes from Jas D'Cunha, who races at Winter Nationals this coming Thursday.
