Teachers and coaches at Beccles Kingfishers are all volunteers with a range of experience in swimming and all dedicated to support the club and its swimmers development.

Their continual support poolside is part of what makes the club what it is today. The team of teachers, coaches and helpers help run the different squads the club has to offer from teaching the younger members in the Junior Squad to progressing and coaching the more competitive squads.

The club is also keen to develop their senior swimmers into teachers and coaches.

Luke Dix

Strength and Conditioning and Nutrition Coach

dip.ISSN, CISSN

I’ve been working in the health and fitness industry now for around eight years. Within that time I’ve worked under a variety of different roles that have seen me work with GP referrals, right through to triathletes, power lifters and bodybuilders. Currently I work as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant at Bungay Gym, and on my own at RLD Coaching and Nutrition. My passion for learning about nutrition ignited during my time as a competitive bodybuilder, where my eating regime would be the exact same, at the same time, every day, for the majority of the year. A bit extreme, I think you’ll agree. It was only when I applied to go to college to learn about a more ‘sustainable’ approach that my obsessions with the body and food as a fuel source, really took off.

Since college, I’ve gained qualifications in: Applied Nutrition and Supplementation; learning about the basic biochemistry of food and the pros/cons of supplements, Exercise Referral; taking referrals from health specialists such as GP’s and helping to improve the patients quality of life via tailored physical activity, Food as Medicine; using food as a preventative as it relates to chronic diseases as well as foods impact on the gut and just recently I finished my postgraduate diploma in Sport and Exercise Nutrition with the ISSN (International Society of Sport Nutrition) with a distinction. My future goals are to further develop my knowledge with an MSc in Sport Nutrition, later this year.

As well as these qualifications, I have also attended numerous nutrition conferences and CPDs (Smoking Cessation, Behaviour Change and Anti-Doping with UKAD) up and down the country.

I am extremely excited to be a part of such a prestigious, elite club here at Kingfishers. I look forward to putting my skills to use and helping these already highly athletic individuals perform at their best.
