Modernian Swimming Club is the premier competitive swim club in Bedfordshire and is known for its success both on the region and national stage.
Laurence Mills is the Modernian SC Head Coach and has a wealth of experience working with Age Group & Youth athletes over the last 10 years. Before Joining Modernian SC, Laurence worked in Canada where he was the Assistant Head Coach at Markham Aquatic Club, a leading performance programme with over 300 Competitive Members just North of Toronto, Ontario. Laurence has also Worked in Age group coaching Roles at the City of Leicester & Bolton Metro where he had numerous successes at county, Regional and National Level.
Laurence has big plans for Modernian SC over the next 5 years, he believes the programme is a sleeping giant within the South East region. ‘We have everything we need to compete with the best clubs in the Region & the country and a membership that is willing to do the work to get there, My job now is to make sure the process is right to allow our swimmers to achieve Long term success in the sport’.

Formerly called swim21, SwimMark accreditation is Swim England’s quality standard for clubs. It recognises high standards of governance, sustainability and effectiveness.
SwimMark is about creating the best possible swimming experience for all, raising the quality of aquatics provision across all areas and Sport England Clubmark recognition for great quality clubs.
