TSC News: Splash Gala - February 2023

E Dolton

Well done again to everyone for doing so well at this year’s first Splash Night!  A record attendance (46 swimmers raced), and most importantly I hope everyone had a great time – make sure you get your results, as it's fantastic to see even faster progress than previously;  every single swimmer did a personal best in at least one race, and this time a huge 82% of swims were personal bests.  Again this is showing strong progress on our mission to help every one of our swimmers improve their skills and reach their highest potential through fantastic teamwork, an intense focus on skill development in training and encouraging everyone to compete within and for the club.

Thanks once again to Amaya Stephenson and her team of senior swimmers for organising the event and running the race schedule, and Nicky Doe for all her ideas and support and for organising all the prizes.

We plan to hold the next Splash Night on Sunday April 16th – the next one will be an extra special one as it will double-up as the final time trial for the Peanuts Gala League series which begins in May.

The Peanuts Gala League is a real highlight of the year and competition for team places is incredibly competitive – we only have around 20 places in the team and so I’d really encourage every single Academy/SD1 swimmer to keep working hard in every session and build your skills ready to race on April 16th.  If you haven't raced before then please don't worry – Splash Nights involve swimming in your home pool, the races are only 1 length, and we have lots of supporters to help and encourage you.  You can do as few or as many races as you want to.
