TRAINING DEVELOPMENT 1 (TD1)

Entry criteria

  • 15m freestyle, using bi-lateral breathing
  • 20m backstroke legs
  • 15m backstroke arms and legs
  • 15m breaststroke legs
  • 15m butterfly legs (simultaneous legs)
  • Sink push and glide
  • Mushroom float
  • A handstand/forward roll in the water

Exit criteria

20m freestyle, using bi-lateral breathing

  • 25m backstroke
  • 15m breaststroke legs (legal kick)
  • 15m butterfly legs (simultaneous legs)
  • Sink push and glide
  • A forward roll in the water

Training aims & objectives

  • Learn & develop stroke technique on all four strokes
  • Learn & develop starts, turns & finishes on all four strokes
  • Training in a group environment & lane discipline
  • Punctuality
  • Have all training equipment (kickboard, club hat & drink bottle)
  • Introduction to club race nights & club championships

Decision makers

The Head Coach, or Assistant Head Coach will be accountable for all decisions relating to movement between groups. Each decision will be made in consultation with the relevant group coach. Their decision will be final.

Promotion to the next level

Feltham has a continuous assessment policy. Swimmers can be moved at any time provided they fulfil the exit / entry criteria, have the right attitude and are willing to commit to the training required.

  • A tumble turn
