The Club's Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 15th April 2023, before the Club's Annual Presentation Evening.

Committee Members and their roles

Committee members represent the Club at regular committee meetings, acting as a spokesperson to address any issues and together with the other members of the committee work to find solutions and improvements to the running of the organisation. Committee members may also be asked to represent the club externally at events or meeting when required.

The Chairman, Membership Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair are known as the 'Executive Officers' 


Sub-Groups

The lead officer from the following sub-groups will report back to committee, and they will be supported by other volunteer members. We will be actively recruiting members for these groups, but if you can help in any way then please do get in touch with the Chairman or Membership Secretary. The initial Sub-Groups that will be created include:

  • Competition and Club Championships Sub Group 
  • Fundraising Sub-Group  

Committee members and their roles:

Committee members represent the Club at regular committee meetings, acting as a spokesperson to address any issues and together with the other members of the committee work to find solutions and improvements to the running of the organisation. Committee members may also be asked to represent the club externally at events or meeting when required.

President 

The Club president,  leads and motivates the club, ensuring that club members feel valuable, inspired, and connected to each other.  The Club President will take the role of the Chairperson in his absence.

Chairperson / Vice-Chair

The Chairperson is responsible for ensuring that the Club is well managed and run efficiently. He/she sets the agenda for and chairs all meetings of the club committee (including AGMs) and guides members through the agenda, as well as representing the Club at other meetings. The Chairperson provides leadership and support/guidance to club members where necessary, oversees committee decisions and holds the casting vote. Other duties include acting as signatory on club cheques, authorizing expenditure, leading the Disciplinary Committee, and preparing/presenting the annual report for the AGM. The Chairman is responsible for managing the club's relationships with Bede's and Freedom Leisure, and ensuring that adequate pool time is made available for training sessions.  He/she will also secure additional facilities from time to time, when required by the club. Delegated responsibility is given to the Vice-Chair to assist in delivering the Chairpersons duties.

Membership Secretary

The Club Secretary acts as principal administrative officer for the club and is the first point of contact for general correspondence. She assists the Chairperson in the preparation of the Annual report, acts as a signatory on cheques, and is the main point of contact for regional and national ASA matters.

The Membership Secretary supports new members of the Club and maintains up to date records of club membership in accordance with ASA regulations.

Treasurer 

The Treasurer is responsible for collating a record of accounts and monitoring the finances of the Club to ensure that the Club remains solvent.

Minutes Secretary 

The Minutes Secretary takes minutes at the committee meetings and the yearly AGM. Circulate typed minutes/actions to committee and attendees via e-mail.

Welfare Officer

The Welfare Officer ensures that the club operates a safe, effective and child friendly environment that promotes good practice in line with the club’s Child Protection policy. The welfare officer is the first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding or welfare concern.

Fundraising Lead

The fundraising and sponsorship officers provide a central point for the club to lead, and develop opportunities for funding, grants and sponsorship into the club. This includes the preparation and submission of funding bids to organisations, working with other organisations to develop joint bids and ensuring the profile of the club is maintained

Competition Lead

The competition lead officer  is responsible for leading a sub-group of officers who collate and submit gala entries for all external meets, along with the running of our own galas, competitions, awards and trophies for our Club Championships 

Parent Liaison 

Our Parent Liaison officer is available on poolside during training nights to answer your questions and point you in the right direction for advice, help and support regarding all things swimming. The Parent Liaison also leads the team of Poolside Liaison Officers (PLOs), a team of parents who have volunteered to be present poolside at training sessions to support swimmers, coaches and spectators.  Further details re our PLOs can be found on the volunteers page.
