James at Summer Nationals

Mike Annable

Either side of the Commonwealth Games James has been at Ponds Forge for British Summer Nationals and the Swim England Summer Meet.

Swimmers are invited to these events based on times achieved during a qualifying window running between March and May.

James was invited to swim 50m Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly at British Summer Champs where he swam very close to his PB's, breaking club age group records along the way.

At the Swim England Summer Meet James raced in 100m and 200m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke.

He PB'd in the 100m breaststroke heat to make the final, where he PB'd again finishing 8th overall.

Whilst things didn't go to plan in the 200m breaststroke he recovered to swim superbly in the 50m backstroke.

A PB in the heats took him into the final ranked 7th. He then dropped another 0.5 seconds in the final, finishing 4th and missing a medal by just 6 hundredths of a second!

Fabulous swimming James - our first swimmer at this level for over a decade. We know that more will follow!

Special thanks to Head Coach Jac and Coach Howard for giving up so much of their time to support James at Nationals.
