Club Time Trials (all squads)

All throughout the competitive season, our squad coaches will run time trials, more frequently for our junior squads. These provide opportunities for our younger swimmers that are too young to participate in the more formal galas, some racing experience and a means to gauge their improvement. It is also used to help selection for the Aquasprints Team.

Aquasprints (8-11 year olds)

Lisburn's younger swimmers compete in the Aquasprint Junior Swimming League, which has been sponsored by our locally based healthy snack company 'Forest Feast' for over 10 years. It is for swimmers aged 8-11years and all races are one length (25m). They cover the four strokes with events for girls and boys with mixed medley and frontcrawl relays. The key ethos of the league is fun although there can be fierce competition. Its a fantastic opportunity to see how our club swimmers are developing and it gives each swimmer a chance to experience highly charged yet fun racing. Every swimmer gets a t-shirt too!

Club Championships (all squads)

LCSC hold our Club Championships every year around January over 4 days. It is for all our competitive squads and range from 50m to 200m in all 4 strokes, 200m & 400m IM and 400m Freestyle. This is a chance for our younger swimmers to experience competition in a more informal environment, and also for our volunteers to gain experience as officials for galas. The swimmers' performance counts towards awarding of trophies at the club's end of season Awards Night

Development Meets

These meets are run by Swim Ulster throughout the season in 25m format. Minimun entry age is 10 years and medals are awarded to the fastest swimmers in each age group. The coach decides when the swimmer is ready to compete, once certain skills have been achieved. Times achieved at this gala are used as criteria for the swimmers to progress to the Qualifying Meets. Parents will be expected to assist in the running of the gala in various volunteer roles.

Qualifying Meets

When a swimmer has acieved the criteria as outlined by Swim Ulster they can then go on to the Qualifying Meets, and there are 3 throughout the season. They are run as Short Course (25m) format for the first and Long Course (50m) format for the other 2. Minimum age of entry is 10 years and and full Olympic programme of events are run including 50m Backstroke, Butterfly & Breastroke and 100m IM (SC). Parents will also be required to assist in volunteer roles for the galas.

Regional & National Meets

As the swimmers progress, they will go on to the Regional and National Meets. There will be published qualification times for each event in the individual meets that must be achieved within a time window. The minimum age for entry is 11 years for the Regional Meets and National Division 2 Meet, and 12 years for the National Meets.
